The Most-Instagrammed Bakeries and Cafés in the United States in 2016

You can tell a lot about a destination by its bakeries.

One step in a French bakery in Paris, and you're in for some of the best croissants of your life. But it's not just a European thing; the United States has plenty of cafés and bakeries with their own specialty baked goods and drinks.

Instagram dove into the most-photographed places on the app, and found the top 15 bakeries and cafés that popped up on users' feeds.

From Thai iced tea in lightbulb-shaped glasses to world-famous beignets piled high with powdered sugar, you're sure to find a few new vacation spots on this list.

1. Café du Monde, New Orleans

Since 1862, Café du Monde has been slinging baked goods—the spot is most well known for their sugary beignets—to locals and visitors from around the globe. Expect to wait in line for some of their home-baked goodness.

2. Voodoo Doughnut, Austin, Texas

Chances are, you've never seen doughnuts quite like the ones from Voodoo Doughnut in Austin. Voodoo Doll Doughnuts, Bacon Maple Bar Doughnuts, Captain My Captain Doughnuts—each one has a name as quirky as the space they're sold from.

3. California Donuts, Los Angeles, California

Sold in a retro style roadside bakery, California Donuts has become a bit of a tourist attraction, and for good reason. Not only are the baked goods delicious, but the vibrant doughnut designs are great for getting that 'gram.
