Coastal Living is holding its annual competition to determine the happiest U.S. city on the coast.
The contenders are 10 towns from around the country, including Camden, Maine; Cape May, New Jersey; Carmel-by-the-Sea, California; Dana Point, California; Fernandina Beach, Florida; Grand Haven, Michigan; Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Langley, Washington; Orleans, Massachusetts; and Sarasota, Florida.
The finalists for Happiest Seaside Town had to have either been featured in the magazine, or nominated via social media. The top 10 were chosen based on their percentage of sunny days, healthiness of beaches, walkability, crime stats, standard of living, financial well-being of locals and “coastal vibes.”
Voters can cast a ballot every 15 minutes on the Coastal Living website. Voting will remain open through October 17, and the winner will be revealed January 11.
The winner will be featured in the magazine’s 20th anniversary issue in May and will have bragging rights forever—or at least through the next election cycle.
